Stanlio & Ollio di Jon S. Baird celebra il meraviglioso legame che ha unito per tutta la vita il duo comico più amato al mondo. Stan Laurel e Oliver Hardy, interpretati magistralmente da Steve Coogan e John C. Reilly, partono per una tournée teatrale nell’Inghilterra del 1953. Finita l’epoca d’oro che li ha visti re della comicità, vanno incontro a un futuro incerto. Il pubblico delle esibizioni è tristemente esiguo, ma i due sanno ancora divertirsi insieme, l’incanto della loro arte continua a risplendere nelle risate degli spettatori, e così rinasce il legame con schiere di fan adoranti. Il tour si rivela un successo, ma Laurel e Hardy non riescono a staccarsi dall’ombra dei loro personaggi, e fantasmi da tempo sepolti, uniti alla delicata salute di Oliver, minacciano il loro sodalizio. I due, vicini al loro canto del cigno, riscopriranno l’importanza della loro amicizia.
