Benedict Cumberbatch nei panni di Thomas Edison e Michael Shannon in quelli di George Westinghouse sono i protagonisti di Edison – L’uomo che illuminò il mondo. La storia della competizione epica e spietata tra i due più grandi inventori dell’era industriale per stabilire quale dei due sistemi elettrici avrebbe dominato il nuovo secolo. Sostenuto da J.P. Morgan, Edison abbaglia il mondo illuminando Manhattan, ma Westinghouse, aiutato da Nikola Tesla, riuscì ad individuare alcuni pesanti difetti nel sistema a corrente continua di Edison. Scatenando una vera “guerra della corrente”, Westinghouse e Tesla puntano tutto sul sistema a corrente alternata, una scelta rischiosa e pericolosa.
